Honey Bees Run the Earth
Here's to you, Earth! We all know who really runs the world: the bees. Bees help pollinate over 75% of flowering plants, as well as 75% of crops. Without bees, there wouldn't be many fruits, vegetables, and nuts, including chocolate and coffee. So, in honor of the honey bees that help keep the earth thriving, a cocktail that blends honey-infused whisky and a homemade sage simple syrup.
Honey Bee’s Run the World
Serves: 1 | Mixing time: 5 minutes
Ingredients
2 parts homemade honey-infused whisky
1 part lemon juice
2 tbsp sage simple syrup
Bee pollen on rim
Method
Add whisky, lemon juice, and sage simple syrup into a shaker.
Fill to the top of the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for 30 seconds.
Use the sage simple syrup to wet the edge of the glass.
While wet, touch the lip of the glass to the bee pollen to get it to stick.
Pour drink through sieve into the glass.
Garnish with bee pollen and candied sage leaf.
Sage Simple Syrup
1 cup cane sugar
1 cup water
1/4 cup of whole sage
Bring all ingredients to a very low simmer in a medium sauce pan.
Stir until sugar is dissolved.
Simmer for 5 minutes.
Store in a cool and dry place.
Honey-Infused Whisky
2/3 cup honey
½ cup water
2 inch piece of orange zest
1 ¾ cup whisky
Bring all ingredients to a very low simmer in a medium sauce pan.
Stir until honey is dissolved.
Simmer for 5 minutes.
Store in a cool and dry place.
