Madrona Bar & Grill, located in the heart of Roche Harbor, is perfect for a leisurely lunch. The restaurant deck overlooks the stunning harbor filled with sailboats. When I ate at Madrona it rained a little bit, but large umbrellas covered the table and it was actually nice to enjoy a hot meal in the brisk weather. The crispy calamari with wasabi aioli, local manila clams, slow roasted wagyu beef sliders, Northwest clam chowder, hand-battered fish and chips, and the catch of the day street-side tacos were all so delicious and incredibly filling. It wasn’t until I was putting this post together when I realized how much we had actually ordered! Everything on the menu looked too good to pass up. If you are ever visiting San Juan Island, don’t miss out on a delicious lunch here!

The Movie Collection: Washington, D.C.
1. Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939) / 2. Legally Blonde 2: Red, White, and Blonde (2003) / 3. Thank You for Smoking (2005) /
4. Independence Day (1996) / 5. Mars Attacks (1996)
After an amazing weekend in D.C. with my sister, I wanted to create a mini-collection of movies that are set there. While most of the movies set in D.C. have to do with politics, some of them are sci-fi and create a world overtaken by supernatural beings. I love the backdrop that D.C. provides because the white marble buildings and monuments create a powerful and memorable environment. D.C. is a unique city, and even though I really like it, every time I visit I get a little anxious and lazy feeling because of how busy everyone around me appears to be. Maybe I’ll just live vicariously through these movies in the comfort of my own room eating these (while not-so-secretly wishing I were eating these instead).
