That’s a Wrap!

This week was a blur. Last weekend I traveled to the East Coast for a quick getaway, and as I expected, it was filled with incredible food and quality entertainment. This weekend will be filled with lots of work, but not without a little adventure and fun – trying out a new sushi place and spending time with friends. Until then, wrapping up the week with a recap…

* Saw Scarlett Johansson star in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof in NYC.

* This Sunday is the Academy Awards – finally! For a delicious treat, try making Golden Caramel Popcorn.

* These Eleni’s ‘Best Picture’ cookies are too perfect.

* Watched the Beyoncé: Life is But a Dream documentary that premiered on HBO last Saturday. Pretty good overall, there were definitely some inspiring moments.

* I saw Argo, but I haven’t seen Zero Dark Thirty yet. For those who have, what are your thoughts on this article?

* Girl Scout Cookies, I’m coming for you.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Happy Valentine’s Day! This Oscar-nominated animated short film is INCREDIBLE!

I love this short film for several reasons:

1.) Talent. The animators and director David Kahrs responsible for this amazing short film are clearly so talented. It’s always a pleasure witnessing great work.

2.) Love at first sight. So sweet.

3.) New York City. This story takes place in one of the greatest cities in the world.

I Heart…

1. Heart Pancake Rings | 2. Heart Waffle Maker | 3. Tea To My Heart Tea Infuser
4. Coral Herringbone Throw | 5. Heart Dinner Plate

Just in time for Valentine’s Day…everything I am currently ‘hearting.’ Wake up and make cute heart-shaped pancakes and waffles for a breakfast full of love or add a shot of love to your tea. Bundle up with a comfy throw while eating chocolates off of a heart-shaped plate. Go ahead and celebrate love tomorrow, and remind yourself of all the reasons why you love you. If you want to spread the love, send one of these sweet hearts to your mother, sister, or best girlfriend! xoxo

LA and bushes

We are well into February and can start crossing events off of the list: Superbowl. This weekend is Chinese New Year and I can’t wait to eat some greasy Chinese food! For now, wrapping up the week with a recap…

* I went on a gorgeous hike last weekend! The Hollywood Sign was visible every step of the way and the view of Los Angeles was breathtaking (photo above).

* Really sweet Valentine’s Day card.

* These animal doughnuts are adorable.

* New York Times crossword mug - a delightful breakfast companion.

* I’ve started re-watching all of Woody Allen’s films. Sometimes I just need his humor in my life.

* Dined at Square One and re-fell in love with the french toast.

* Who else is looking forward to watching Side Effects, which was released today?

* Interesting article about Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln.

Have a productive weekend!

Around Town: Cliff’s Edge, Los Angeles

b

Cliff’s Edge Restaurant in Silver Lake is the epitome of adorable. With a tree-house style seating arrangement (there are different levels of tables that are surrounded by trees), colorful pillows that stand out against the natural background, and dinner by candlelight (when you go in the evening), Cliff’s Edge is, again, simply adorable. It was difficult to decide between the appetizer and entrée offerings since everything looked delicious, but you probably can’t go wrong with anything you order.

With Valentine’s Day next week, Cliff’s Edge is a romantic and charming restaurant for date night or for a friends night out. They are even offering a Valentine’s Day menu, so make your reservations now!

Happy February! February is the month of footballs, purple and green beads, red and pink hearts, birthday cakes, and the celebration of a new year (Chinese New Year!). There are many great things to look forward to this month, and each event is so different that the days will fly by. Bring it on, February, we’re ready for all that you have to offer.

In the meantime, wrapping up the week with a recap

* After reading The Night Circus, I am loving all things circus-related, including these Vintage Circus Napkins.

* Prepare for the Super Bowl this weekend with some New Orleans-inspired snacks!

* I love this golden banana bowl.

* For when you 1) don’t have time to make a whole back of chocolate chip cookies and 2) only want a quick snack and 3) are feeling selfish and don’t want to share.

* If you are in New York City or Los Angeles, go see Girls Against Boys! It’s a limited release, for now.

* I am having a crepe moment (photo above).

* Such a great article re: the Oscars. I can’t wait to see Seth MacFarlane’s opening monologue…

* The Anne Hathaway parody of ‘I Dreamed a Dream.’

* Oh, high school…these celebrities’ high school yearbook photos are hilarious.

* Cute Valentine’s Day DIY.

Have a great (Super Bowl) weekend!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Bridget Jones' Diary

Happy Valentine’s Day! I know this holiday may seem way too Hallmark-y and overblown, but just think of it as the perfect time to indulge on chocolate chip cookies and brownies, watch romance movies, and dream of love. These are only some of the romantic comedies on the long list of movies that I adore, and today I am going to take the time to enjoy one. Why not? Living vicariously through movie characters is just what I do. It is what it is. Today, you should too. Cheers to a day full of self-bought roses and chocolate truffles!

Party of Love

Whether you are hosting or attending a Valentine’s Day party this February, make a statement with the food that you serve/bring. Valentine’s Day parties can be fun because there is pink all over and the edible goodies tend to be very sweet! Desserts are a must at a Valentine’s Day party, and I would argue may be even more important than the actual food you serve. If you are thinking of having an Anti-Valentine’s Day Party or going all Jessica Biel in Valentine’s Day and throwing an I Hate Valentine’s Day Party, check out this site.

Sealed With A Kiss

Valentine’s Day is in less than one week, and if you plan on sending something to a loved one but don’t know what to get him/her, here are some ideas. Remember, you can’t go wrong with food. For a guy or girl. Make sure to place your orders ahead of time! Don’t wait until the last-minute – let this post be your friendly reminder.

Send Eleni’s cookies – they are seriously one of the nicest gifts to receive. The cookies are delicious and the designs on top are skillfully and beautifully applied

Make a cute little bag full of his/her favorite candies with a plastic toy shovel and a sweet tag: I Dig You

Chocolate AND fruit? Yes please!

Bake a batch of cookies with these awesome stamps and send it on its way

You really can’t go wrong with chocolate/Godiva
