Currently Craving: Charlotte Olympia

If there is one shoe designer that comes to mind when I think flawless, it is Charlotte Olympia. Not only are her shoes insanely creative and unique, but they are also very comfortable, which I find rare in shoes that aren’t designed for running or lounging around the house. Charlotte Olympia’s 2013 Pre Fall line consists of amazing shoes and clutches that were inspired by Hollywood. Called ‘Hollywoodland,’ I am obviously craving this gorgeous collection and loving how the different aspects of Hollywood appear throughout her designs.

Whether you are gazing at the iconic Hollywood sign, working behind the scenes, indulging in Old Hollywood black-and-white films, or enjoying a night out to the theater, this British shoe designer has you covered. While her shoes and accessories are insanely expensive, they are the best kind of eye candy. These are some of my favorites…

1. Box Office Pandora Clutch
2. Girls on Film Heels
3. Hollywood Wedges
4. Movie Night Bag
5. Take Pandora Clutch
6. Liz Pump

That’s a Wrap!

LA and bushes

We are well into February and can start crossing events off of the list: Superbowl. This weekend is Chinese New Year and I can’t wait to eat some greasy Chinese food! For now, wrapping up the week with a recap…

* I went on a gorgeous hike last weekend! The Hollywood Sign was visible every step of the way and the view of Los Angeles was breathtaking (photo above).

* Really sweet Valentine’s Day card.

* These animal doughnuts are adorable.

* New York Times crossword mug - a delightful breakfast companion.

* I’ve started re-watching all of Woody Allen’s films. Sometimes I just need his humor in my life.

* Dined at Square One and re-fell in love with the french toast.

* Who else is looking forward to watching Side Effects, which was released today?

* Interesting article about Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln.

Have a productive weekend!

In the Spotlight: Faye Dunaway

Faye Dunaway

I first became aware of Faye Dunaway through the films Bonnie and Clyde (1967) and Chinatown (1974). Incredibly talented and able to adapt a variety of looks, Dunaway has established herself as one of Hollywood’s most memorable actresses. Born as Dorothy Faye Dunaway on January 14, 1941, Dunaway has had a long acting career in which she has flourished. Whenever Dunaway is on-screen, she is captivating and full of charisma that draws viewers into her imagined world.

Dunaway’s autobiography, Looking for Gatsby: My Life, was published in 1995, and it depicts her life and career in a personal perspective that adds further depth to her film work. Dunaway is still working in Hollywood today.

And the Oscar Goes To…

The Academy Awards are this Sunday, and I wish I had a television in my room so that I could stock up on snacks and enjoy the show. However, since that isn’t the case I will have to hunt down a nearby TV. I always enjoy Oscar season and the days leading up to the big night. The competition is fierce, and it couldn’t be more thrilling! To make the awards show more enjoyable, an Oscars party would be a fun event to throw for your friends, family, or yourself. Because the awards show can last for several hours, make enough snacks to last through the night. Who will you be rooting for this Sunday?

◊ Cookies in the shape of Oscars

◊ Popcorn cones with the Best Picture nominees

◊ Keep gold champagne glasses nearby to celebrate when your favorite movie wins!

◊ Have gold and sparkly table settings so your guests feel like stars

◊ Fill your champagne glasses with an orange and gold drink – this recipe looks like a winner

Friday’s Features

♥ This looks so intense. I’m intrigued.

I read a quote earlier this week by Augusten Burroughs, where he said, “I myself am entirely made out of flaws, stitched together with good intentions.” I love this quote for so many different reasons, the main being because as we all know, no one is perfect, yet most of us have good intentions. We may not do everything flawlessly, but as long as we have a good head on our shoulders, work hard, learn from failure and mistakes, and put our best foot forward, everything will be okay. Have an inspiring and restful weekend!

♥ Hollywood infected your brain you wanted kisses in the rain

♥ These cupcakes aren’t only wrapped gorgeously, but they’re also perfectly topped with juicy blackberries

♥ Social media + Tea

♥ Who do you love?

Movie of the Week

I saw Mission: Impossible  - Ghost Protocol last week and was blown away. I am still in awe of the stunts that these actors did and the locations in which the scenes took place. Apparently, Tom Cruise does his own stunts. I’ve seen interviews of him discussing his training, and the things he does for the role of Ethan Hunt is pretty incredible. In the film, Paula Patton wanted to do her own stunts, too. For Patton, it took two months of training before filming. After seeing what these actors accomplished, sign me up for that kind of training!

The latest installment of Mission: Impossible took place in places such as Budapest, Moscow, Dubai, and Mumbai. The movie includes spectacular stunts such as scaling the largest building in the world, a foot/car chase in a sandstorm, leaps and jumps in a car storage unit, and the use of magnetic body suits to navigate a vertical tunnel with propellers at the bottom. I found the movie to be quite funny because of the cast, and I was kept on the edge of my seat because of the stunts and tricks. Definitely see this movie while it is still in theaters – it’s one for the big screen!

Around Town: Le Grand Colbert

Something’s Gotta Give is a movie about an older man (Jack Nicholson) who usually dates younger women falling in love with a woman (Diane Keaton) closer to his age. I especially enjoy this movie for the scenes of the beach house, which is clean, airy, and majestic. It is Hollywood interior design at its finest. Near the end of the movie, the characters dine in a restaurant in Paris, France. This restaurant is Le Grand Colbert located at 2, Rue Vivienne. The menu includes a range of delicious sea food, a selection of meat, cheese, and a variety of mouth-watering desserts. Le Grand Colbert has a nice warm glow, a golden interior, and will make you feel like you are in a scene straight out of this Hollywood hit.
