That’s a Wrap!

Being sick is no fun. It’s even less fun when you are too sick to watch movies. However, with some good luck, lots of fluids, and a ridiculous amount of sleep, I’m hoping to kick this flu to the curb by Sunday – I know, that’s very wishful thinking. At least I’ll try to have enough energy to get through a couple of movies. In the meantime, wrapping up the week with a re-cap…

That’s a Wrap!

This week was a blur. Last weekend I traveled to the East Coast for a quick getaway, and as I expected, it was filled with incredible food and quality entertainment. This weekend will be filled with lots of work, but not without a little adventure and fun – trying out a new sushi place and spending time with friends. Until then, wrapping up the week with a recap…

* Saw Scarlett Johansson star in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof in NYC.

* A classic Valentine’s Day treat for a crafty and cute party.

* This Sunday is the Academy Awards – finally! For a delicious treat, try making Golden Caramel Popcorn.

* These Eleni’s ‘Best Picture’ cookies are too perfect.

* Watched the Beyoncé: Life is But a Dream documentary that premiered on HBO last Saturday. Pretty good overall, there were definitely some inspiring moments.

* I saw Argo, but I haven’t seen Zero Dark Thirty yet. For those who have, what are your thoughts on this article?

* Girl Scout Cookies, I’m coming for you.

This was a pretty great week. After several meetings, getting ahead on school work, and taking a leisurely hike, I am off to the East Coast for a quick trip that will be filled with delicious food, fantastic entertainment, and loved ones. Thankfully, the East Coast storm has calmed down, and I am looking forward to the brief escape. Before then, though, it’s time to wrap up the week with recap…

* These Superhero window washers are unbelievably awesome.

* Enjoyed brunch at Cafe Gratitude - delicious vegan food with amazing smoothies (1st photo).

* One more weekend until the Oscars. I can’t wait.

* Love the color of these flowers – they make an early morning hike much prettier (2nd photo).

* I wouldn’t mind eating these doughnuts every morning.

* I’ve been downloading books like crazy. This week’s recommendations: Born Round by Frank Bruni and The Man Who Ate Everything by Jeffrey Steingarten.

* This article is from 2010, but we briefly discussed this topic in my media seminar and I found it fascinating even though Vampires have zero appeal to me.

* I <3 Kelly Clarkson. She killed it at the Grammy Awards last Sunday.

That’s a Wrap!

Happy February! February is the month of footballs, purple and green beads, red and pink hearts, birthday cakes, and the celebration of a new year (Chinese New Year!). There are many great things to look forward to this month, and each event is so different that the days will fly by. Bring it on, February, we’re ready for all that you have to offer.

In the meantime, wrapping up the week with a recap…

* After reading The Night Circus, I am loving all things circus-related, including these Vintage Circus Napkins.

* Prepare for the Super Bowl this weekend with some New Orleans-inspired snacks!

* I love this golden banana bowl.

* For when you 1) don’t have time to make a whole back of chocolate chip cookies and 2) only want a quick snack and 3) are feeling selfish and don’t want to share.

* If you are in New York City or Los Angeles, go see Girls Against Boys! It’s a limited release, for now.

That’s a Wrap!

This has been a long week, but it’s nice getting back into a routine and catching up with friends. This weekend will be filled with work and sleep, but I’ll be sure to sneak in some movie time. For now, wrapping up the week with a recap…

* Finished Seasons One and Two of Homeland, and I can’t wait until Season 3! Brody just can’t catch a break.

* Getting ready for the Academy Awards in February.

That’s a Wrap!

It’s finally the weekend! That means it’s time to get serious about the holidays. This includes a lot of baking, catching up on my endless movie list, putting up the Christmas tree, and finishing up some scarf-knitting projects. What are you all up to for the weekend? Without further ado, a wrap-up from the week…

• Peppermint Icicles?! – these look awesome, but I just envision a messy, sticky fail.

• Chocolate and Mint ice cream on another late night dessert run [Photo].

• Peppermint ice cream and hot cocoa. Add this to the Flavor of the Month!

• Can’t wait to start watching Homeland over winter break.

• Film and Food Gift Guide for those who are still shopping for presents.

• Movies I can’t wait to see: Hitchcock, Skyfall (still..), Zero Dark Thirty, Anna Karenina, and Silver Linings Playbook. If you haven’t seen Lincoln and Argo already, make time for them this weekend – they are both (rightly) nominated for Golden Globes.

That’s a Wrap!

The weeks just seem to be getting shorter and shorter. I never want the holidays to end! We’re hardly in the midst of it and I’m already starting to miss it…I’m looking forward to finishing up my work so I can watch endless movies and eat my body weight in Christmas cookies. But for now, here’s a wrap-up from the week…

• Lincoln lived up to the hype. So did this large popcorn.

Happy Friday! Wrapping up the week with a recap…

· Movies I watched this week: Pretty Woman (1990), Moulin Rouge (2001), Life and Nothing More (1992), and Breaking the Waves (1996). A good assortment and wide variety.

· Can’t wait to set the table for Thanksgiving – I am inspired by this idea and this gorgeous table setting.

· I’m having serious cereal cravings this week [1st photo].

· I couldn’t resist getting a bag (or two) – ’tis the season…too soon? [2nd photo].

· Had to take a peek at Alice in Movieland. Nothing like falling down the rabbit Hollywood hole [3rd photo].

Happy Friday! Wrapping up the week with a recap…

· When Mickey-shaped waffles are for breakfast, you know it’s going to be a great day [1st photo].

· Ate at Mozza again - the pizza was tasty as usual.

· Saw the Stanley Kubrick exhibit at the LACMA last weekend - it was interesting to see the script notes and storyboards of the films I’ve watched in Film History class [2nd photo].

· Urban Lights at LACMA are always stunning [3rd photo].

· Elvis and Sophia Loren.

· Last weekend I tried Gordon Ramsey’s new restaurant at The Grove: The Fat Cow. Delicious! [4th photo].

· Movie this weekend: Lincoln.
