It is going to be a big movie weekend, and I am appreciative for the time off to visit the theater. I finally saw a movie last week and it really made me realize how much I miss the theater-going experience. In addition to movies, I intend to re-watch the entire 3 seasons of Arrested Development, probably with dim sum leftovers within reach. Have a wonderful weekend!

* This really is how I get sucked into an SVU marathon.

* I am officially obsessed with Arrested Development, and May 26 (the start of Season 4) cannot get here soon enough.

* Lavender lemonade: a perfect summer drink.

* Met Gala 2013 - I wasn’t very impressed with the theme and most of the dresses. My favorites: Jennifer Lawrence, Jessica Alba, and Anne Hathaway.

* Indulged in one of the best chocolate lava cakes [photo above].

* Stoked to see The Great Gatsby and Iron Man 3 this weekend!

* A great place for Mother’s Day brunch. Here are some other ideas!

* Saw Mud last weekend, and it was visually stunning and a great slice-of-life film.

That’s a Wrap!

grumpy cat

This week went by so slowly. Every morning I woke up confused about which day it was, but recently that’s become normal. I am looking forward to the next few days when things start slowing down. I plan on catching up on Smash (I am really enjoying this show…please don’t cancel it, NBC), testing out a new (to me) Japanese restaurant, and starting a new novel. When the days start to blur together, it’s nice to have quiet moments to simply reflect and refresh. Now, let’s wrap up the week with a recap…

* Adorable watermelon pool float - perfect for lazy summer days.

* Matthew McConaughey on Letterman.

* Grumpy Cat unimpressed at TIME.

* Mud comes out today! I can’t wait to see it, along with these other movies.

* A Dark Knight bookshelf.

* A fantastic article on Baz Luhrmann and The Great Gatsby.

* Finished reading Z: A Novel About Zelda Fitzgerald yesterday. It was moving, eye-opening, and beautifully written. Zelda is one strong gal.

* Checking out some interesting art exhibits this weekend and hoping to be inspired.

Have a wonderful weekend!

* My heart and thoughts are still with Boston.

* Watched Zero Dark Thirty (finally) and was inspired by Maya’s confidence and persistence.

* Explored the Hotel Del Coronado where Some Like It Hot was filmed – despite all the tourists, it was pretty awesome to see the hotel in person [1st photo].

* Tom Hanks in Nora Ephron’s Lucky Guy - two of the greatest people who ever contributed to the entertainment industry.

* I am starting to miss fall. This is one of the reasons why.

* Currently reading Z: A Novel of Zelda Fitzgerald, and there are some beautiful lines in it. Really enjoying it so far.

* Can’t wait to see The Great Gatsby, which comes out in May. I adore Carey Mulligan and this article about her.

* Love the purple flowers blooming in Coronado [2nd photo].

* Creative coffee latte art - I would become a coffee drinker if my latte looked like #5, #6, or #51.

That’s a Wrap!

This was a great food week. From discovering new restaurants to munching on sweet treats, I love a week that involves trying new food. While I spent a lot of time eating, I haven’t had the time to catch up on my T.V. shows or any movies, so I’m hoping this weekend will involve some down time to veg out on the couch. Until that breather, let’s wrap up the week with a recap…

* Obsessed with the design on these chocolate wrappers.

* Tried Drew Barrymore’s wine for the first time.

* Loved these mini fonuts – post coming next week!

Wonder Wheel - contrasted

Santa Monica

I hope you all had a lovely Easter weekend. I was having an Asian food kick for some reason, and I enjoyed every minute of it. We are in the final home stretch until summer, and the sunny days make even the most mundane tasks worthwhile. I have finally adjusted to Daylight Savings, and it is so much easier to wake up earlier. I’m looking forward to a weekend filled with even more food, getting out in nature for a couple of hours, and catching up on more recent releases. For now, wrapping up the week with a recap…

* Lucille Ball roasting her close friends – gotta love her!

* When two artistic geniuses meet.

* Happy Endings returned to television last week and it did not disappoint.

* If you enjoy Blue Bottle Coffee, you’ll enjoy this article.

* Dreaming of hot summer days on Coney Island [1st photo].

* Enjoyed a little too much Din Tai Fung this week, with desserts from an Asian bakery to really top things off.

* Breakfast with a view [2nd photo].

* Watched This is 40 and there were moments of pure hilarity. An entertaining weekend watch.

Have a great weekend!

Flowers at Pike Place

When your week consists of beautiful flowers like the ones above, you know it’s been a great one. These tulips are just more proof that spring is here and that it is time to do some spring cleaning and display flowers around the kitchen, living room, and nightstand. Flowers are such a simple way to brighten up your life. I don’t usually do much to celebrate Easter, but this weekend I’ll celebrate in my own way by finally catching up on some movies and reading with a large glass of iced chai by my side.

Before that, though, it’s time to wrap up the week with a recap…

* Blue skies above Seattle [1st photo].

* Stunning Easter Eggs.

* Fresh flowers at Pike Place Market [2nd photo].

* 45 minutes of Woody Allen umming, hmming, and stammering.

* Loving these adorable Baked by Melissa Easter cupcakes!

* Best food apps for travelers – this will definitely come in handy!

* Coming up on the last couple of days of #ADashofMarch.

* Movies this weekend: Zero Dark Thirty & This is 40.

Have a happy Easter weekend! How are you celebrating the holiday?

Panda Cookies 1

The seasons seem to have blended seamlessly – nothing feels different but the forseeable changes in the coming weeks and months are exciting. I spent a lot of time in the kitchen this week baking and cooking, and it felt great to slow down and have a quiet moment. I’ve missed experimenting with new ingredients. On the film front, I’m still struggling to tackle my Best Picture Bucket List. Until I can finally cross another movie off the list, let’s wrap-up the week with a recap…

* What people are eating around the world.

* Cute chocolate panda faces as an afternoon snack (photo above).

* Watched A Serious Man. After seeing the preview for it in theaters so many times, it was nice to see what it was all about.

Revenge killed it this week – I seriously cannot get enough of this show. I’m really looking forward to the 2-hour season finale on May 12.

* These golden marbled Easter eggs are beautiful.

* Hitchcock’s earliest films will be toured around the U.S.

* Wish I were in NYC for the grilled-cheese showdown this weekend.

* Made this almond gelatin dessert a couple of days ago and it satisfied my midnight sweet tooth.

weather

I’m really looking forward to the official start of spring next week. Daylight Savings has really messed up my schedule and I am eager to get back on track with my routine. Starting this weekend I am going to be baking up a storm and watching a lot of movies. I also want to make it to the theater once or twice. Have a great last few days of winter! Until spring, wrapping up the week with a recap…

* Finally craved breakfast this week, and I am feeling much more myself.

* Love this “Shiny Ponies” video with Jenna Lyons – amazing shoes!

* California’s weather has been too good to be true. Blue skies, sun, light breezes [see photo above].

* What They’re Wearing at HBO.

*  This looks like the most heavenly kitchen.

* I really want to see this documentary.

* Once again craving dim sum. Anyone know of any great dim sum restaurants?

Have a fantastic weekend!

I love Lucy

Being sick is no fun. It’s even less fun when you are too sick to watch movies. However, with some good luck, lots of fluids, and a ridiculous amount of sleep, I’m hoping to kick this flu to the curb by Sunday – I know, that’s very wishful thinking. At least I’ll try to have enough energy to get through a couple of movies. In the meantime, wrapping up the week with a re-cap…

* I love stumbling upon I Love Lucy posters [photo above].

* Such a beautiful and touching article.

* Totally forgot Smash was back on…I have a lot of catching up to do.

* Love this udon noodle bowl.

* Can’t believe I’ve still never seen this after all the time I’ve spent in New York.

* Oz the Great and Powerful comes out today…who is seeing it?

* If you haven’t already, follow me on Twitter for daily food and film inspiration!

Have a wonderful weekend!

That’s a Wrap!

This week was a blur. Last weekend I traveled to the East Coast for a quick getaway, and as I expected, it was filled with incredible food and quality entertainment. This weekend will be filled with lots of work, but not without a little adventure and fun – trying out a new sushi place and spending time with friends. Until then, wrapping up the week with a recap…

* Saw Scarlett Johansson star in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof in NYC.

* Watched the Beyoncé: Life is But a Dream documentary that premiered on HBO last Saturday. Pretty good overall, there were definitely some inspiring moments.
